The idea for Marblecake came to me a long time ago. I was already involved in sculpture at the University of Georgia, but I was involved in so many other things as well. I realized that people are very complex and could not be reduced to just one thing they did. We are more than just what we do for a living or what we do for entertainment. I believe in the multi-faceted nature of our existence and the need to explore different interests.
I was playing in a band one night and getting ready for a sculpture show the next. Sometimes people would ask me, "Are you a musician or an artist?" I don't see the difference. It's all about bringing out the inner beauty wherever you can. Life is art. I hope this site will grow into a hub for all my many facets and encourage others to explore their dreams. Everything you do can be an artform if you pay attention to the details. Carving a great mountain road on a fine machine can be as spiriual as carving stone and bringing forth the beauty trapped inside. Set yourself free.
